Filming a house party in Adams County: the house is listed on Vrbo for $600 a night

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – Adams County is still seeking information about a fatal shooting at a house party early Sunday morning.

FOX31 and Channel 2 further investigated the house where the shooting happened and saw it was listed as a Vrbo rental charging $600 a night.

The Vrbo listing described the home as “Denver Fun Home!” Entire first floor private!” which allows for birthday parties, family reunions, weddings and other events. It indicates the maximum number of participants allowed at 50.

Does Adams County have any short term rental rules?

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Vrbo listing was taken down. A message in its place reads: “The property is not available. We have removed this property at the request of the host.”

FOX31 and Channel 2 contacted list host Shelle multiple times and were sent to a full voicemail. The press team also reached out to Vrbo through several means, including email and phone, to find out about their party policy.

A customer service rep by the name of Johnathan said owners are allowed to host parties if they wish. He said that some regions have laws, but if there are no laws against parties, it is the decision of the owner.

The press team also reached out to Adams County to find out its policy on short-term rentals. A county representative said that currently there are no policies or regulations in place for short-term rentals.

Representative William Porter said the county is officially in the process of drafting a licensing ordinance. This will go to the public for comment after the start of the year and then to the county council three times.

Over 230 short-term rentals in Adams County

Porter said there are currently more than 230 short-term rentals in Adams County, and before passing new licensing requirements, they would check with all current owners.

Neighbors and nearby businesses said Tuesday they had called the sheriff’s office multiple times over the past three years about the home in question. A man said off camera that he had called this house 15 to 20 times.

These neighbors said the house had several parties every weekend.

FOX31 and Channel 2 have requested service calls to the address at 120 E. 70th Ave. and wait for an answer.
