Grade II listed ‘rare’ lodge on private land for sale

A ‘stunning’ house dating back to the 1800s has gone up for sale in Merseyside.

The Grade II listed period property sits in its own private grounds on Thornton Common Road, Thornton Hough. Being in a semi-rural location, the house is surrounded by countryside and its own secluded gardens.

Named North Lodge, the house was built in 1894 and still retains many of its historic features. On the market with Hewitt Adams, the property is priced at £750,000.

According to Rightmove, properties in Thornton Hough had an overall average price of £464,663 over the past year. Most sales last year were for semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £339,452.

Individual properties sold for an average of £665,000. Overall, selling prices over the past 12 months were down 23% from a year earlier and up 6% from the 2015 peak of £439,150.

Similar homes, less than two miles away, are also priced similarly to North Lodge. Another four-bedroom house on Gayton Lane is currently listed at £850,000, while two properties are on offer on Thornton Common Road for £850,000 and £950,000 on Parkgate Lane.

The images of the property show many features including the gabled porch, wood cladding, dormer windows, casement and mullioned windows. Inside, the period features continue, with exposed brick fireplaces and arches present throughout.

A large wooden door in the entrance vestibule leads to the hall which has a central staircase to the first floor. From here there are doors leading to the living room, dining room and kitchen.

The kitchen and breakfast room overlook a courtyard, with further access to the garden. Here, past the courtyard, a hallway leads to a downstairs bedroom and en-suite shower room.

Upstairs there are three more bedrooms, a study room and a main bathroom. Outside there is a large rear garden which has been landscaped with lawns, mature flower beds and hedges.
