McALLEN, TX – The Greater McAllen Realtors Association® (GMAR) is proud to announce that Monica Peña has been named the 2021 Tom D. Morton (AE) Association Executive of the Year at Texas REALTOR® Winter meeting on February 14. The award is presented to an officer of a real estate agent® Association in Texas that personifies the leadership qualities and high standards set by Tom D. Morton, former Executive Vice President of the Houston Association of REALTORS®.

Mac McFarland, Chairman of the 2022 Board, said:This award is designed to recognize association leaders/CEOs for excellence, service to their members, and personal and professional achievements and achievements. As an association, we are extremely proud of all of Monica’s accomplishments.

Director of the association for more than five years, Peña has played an essential and determining role in the growth of its membership. She also enhanced her local association’s continuing education programs and MLS services, adding value to the association. A major investor in TREPAC and a key element in the development of the association’s TREPAC programme, Peña has played a vital role in its success.

Pena has served on working groups with the National Association; Chaired and co-chaired subcommittees of the state association executive committee; and served on a task force for the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS). She was a panelist and speaker at the National Association of REALTOR® (NAR), CMLS and RESO Conferences. Peña has worked in his community with Dress for Success, Avance, Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburgh and coordinated REALTORS® relief efforts during Hurricane Harvey and raised funds locally to help Comfort House. Additionally, Peña holds the RCE, At Home with Diversity (AHWD), CMLX1, RED-B, and NAR C2EX Commitment to Excellence designations.

Monica Pena said: “I’m still on cloud 9 on this and can’t help but think about the coordination and subversion it took to surprise me. I am honored and very grateful for the consideration for this award. I work alongside a wonderfully progressive Board of Directors who give me the support needed to provide our approximately 1,600 members with the most up-to-date tools so that they are always at the forefront of a real estate business. flourishing and I am fortunate to lead an incredible staff who work tirelessly to make us the best.
