Metro Property Management Knights win first St. John’s Intermediate Baseball League Championship

The Metro Property Management Knights pulled off something Tuesday night they haven’t done since playing in St. John’s Intermediate League Baseball.

The Mount Pearl team won the league championship.

That’s after the Knights defeated defending champion Holy Cross 11-1 in Game 5 of the team’s best-of-five series held at St. Pat’s Ball Park in St. John’s.

It was the first league championship in the team’s history.

Cameron Pennell had things for the Knights on the mound and picked up the win. The starting pitcher allowed just five hits in six innings while striking out five.

At plate, Pennell helped his own cause by scoring a pair of runs on a hit while scoring three single-handed runs.

Nick Williams also had two hits for the Knights. Connor Swain, Noah Williams, Jack Sullivan, Logan Broderick and Braedy Walsh had one hit each.

Meanwhile, Jacob Baker, Noah Williams, Swain, Nick Williams and Jacob Skiffington have all run races.

Chris Edwards of Holy Cross was touched by the loss at the mound for his team. He allowed four runs on four hits, while striking out four in three innings of work.

They were paced at home plate by Evan Reid, Darcy Cribb, Declan Barron, Josh Mercer and Jacob Gillis had one hit each. Gillis participated in his team’s only race.
